Seabuckthorn Mocktail aka Vitamin Booster

“How about a refreshing mocktail that is ready in a flash? You only need 5 ingredients. To mix this vitamin booster you’ll grab a bottle of with „Sea Buckthorn Vital“  from Weleda “

There are probably two camps, those who like sea buckthorn and those who don’t want to taste it. Quite wrong, I think. Even if the berry with the high vitamin C content, in contrast to other berry fruits, has no real sweetness, the flavor is still an explosion of taste.
Personally, I do harvest the berries from their spiked branches. I usually freeze them and like to pour a handful over my warm porridge. Here I used the syrup from Weleda for this wonderfully refreshing mocktail, i.e. a cocktail without alcohol. Through cooperation with the brand, I was able to experiment with a wide variety of ingredients.

Together with pink grapefruit, this drink becomes a real vitamin bomb. It is really important that ripe fruit is used, otherwise, the whole thing could become too sour. To give this refreshment an exciting consistency, the so-called aquafaba, cooking water from chickpeas, is used (pour off a glass of chickpeas over a sieve and collect the liquid in a container). It behaves in a similar way to egg whites, which are known to add a fluffy consistency to cocktails. Ginger ale acts pimps the cocktail with spiciness and adds freshness with its carbonic acid.

The result was a welcome refreshment on a very hot summer evening. Global warming has shown its full strength that day… The drink also tastes great during winter, especially where the ripe pink grapefruit is in season.
